yes, we have no wifi

I wrote a long account of boarding the train to Madurai, but it's on my laptop hard drive and I can't find a way to upload it. I'm sitting in the Supreme Browsing Center on a machine that looks a little like the one I had in college.  Finally figured out the while Internet Explorer was running like elephant excrement, Mozilla is working a tad better. I have eleven minutes left. Speaking of elephants, we visited Meenakshi Temple today and among several amazing things I saw was an elephant that would lay his trunk on your head in blessing for ten rupees. That's about a quarter and  well worth it. By the way, an elephant's trunk is heavy and hairy and warm. Then we got to sit up on him for a moment or two since we were with a special tour group. Just being able to get so close to an elephant and touch him was as amazing as sitting on him. I guess that made up for not being allowed into about 2/3 of the temple because we were foreigners. That's a new thing apparently, and probably related to increasing communal (religious) tension and terrorism. Of course my camera crapped out again half way through the tour. I couldn't find any lithium batteries but I am now the proud owner of two sets of rechargeable batteries so maybe I can manage to go a day between the two. Hope I can find wifi soon so I can upload pictures and more stories.
