McIndia

Remember stopping at McDonalds after the big game or meet? Coach is trying to make sure everyone gets their food and doesn't get in trouble, everyone is calling out their particular requests. It's pretty much the same with a bus load of teachers and professors getting McDonalds in India. But EVERYONE'S order is special--no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no ice in my drink--and there is not an all beef patty to be had. Apparently, chicken mcnuggets are the same all over the world, and I can attest to the fact that the fries are too. In keeping with my vegetarian plan (I said vegetarian, not healthy), I had a McAloo Tiki (potato and vegetable patty). Really it wasn't so very different from a cheeseburger except that it was green. Did it taste good? Not particularly, but a cheeseburger from the golden arches back home isn't really all that great either, is it? Another thing that's the same--they messed up my order. I had to peel tomatos and onions off my McAloo. If I get Delhi Belly from McDonalds, that will be ironic but somehow not too surprising. After eating on the bus, we went to the American Embassy to meet with the folks from USAID, and I could barely keep my eyes open. Fast food crash is the same in India as it is back home too.
